Traffic volumes

Outcomes for passengers, vehicles and freight.

Travel to and from Gotland decreased slightly during December. A total of 81,222 passengers traveled with the Gotland ferry during the month – a decrease of 2.2% compared with December last year. The number of passenger vehicles amounted to 25,163, which was on par with the previous year (+0.0%). At the same time freight traffic increased by 4.3%

Travel decreased on the Nynäshamn route (–3.6%), while the Southern route increased by 3.3%

For the accumulated January–December period, 1,758,478 passengers traveled with the Gotland ferry – an increase of 1.6% compared with the full year 2024

Adam Jacobsson, Head of Sales and Marketing at Destination Gotland, says:

"December was affected by strong storm winds during the days between Christmas and New Year, which led to several canceled sailings and a somewhat weaker monthly outcome

At the same time we can summarise 2025 as a strong year. In total nearly 1.76 million passengers traveled with the Gotland ferry – an increase of 1.6% compared with the previous year

Travel by Gotlanders is back at pre-pandemic levels, freight volumes increased and punctuality amounted to 97.1%. Overall, this shows that interest in Gotland is stable and that our efforts to broaden the season are having an effect"
