Crimetime Gotland
Several other countries have held crime festivals, now it’s Sweden’s turn. Many Swedish crime writers have reached a large audience abroad and Scandinavian Crime or ‘Nordic Noir’ is an increasingly popular genre.
Visby's historic and atmospheric environment provides the perfect meeting place for those who like a little suspense in their books, film or television. What’s more, many crime writers either live on Gotland or see their detective story unfolding here. Håkan Nesser, Anna Jansson and Mari Jungstedt are just some of Swedish writers who are looking forward to the festival. Among the star guests from further afield are best-selling Norwegian novelist Anne Holt, acclaimed Danish author Jussi Adler Olsen, Scottish ‘Tartan Noir’ writer Denise Mina and award-winning British writer Belinda Bauer.
During this first year, the festival offers an exciting four-day series of events. The 50-point program includes author meetings, seminars, new thriller trends, film and TV series, writing classes, new writer debuts, child and family activities and, of course, murder mysteries and excursions.
